Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

The end of term has come around very quickly. Again, the term has been challenging, with COVID restrictions and staff and student absences and illness. Throughout all of it however, our community has remained positive, upbeat and supportive of one another. I thank you for this.

There has been a lot of activity this term. Teachers have undergone significant professional learning in High Impact Teaching Practice Strategies, we have successfully commenced our implementation of InitiaLit in K-2, students actively participated in a specialist gymnastics program and modified Rugby Union sessions and they were also introduced to a new language and culture (Japanese). Some of our students celebrated their First Reconciliation, we dressed up and had some fun on ‘Twos-day’ on 22.2.22, Menslink worked with students from our upper classes and our Mini Vinnies participated in online St Vincent de Paul workshops.  We also ran parent information evenings on both Reading and Online Safety. Last Friday we also held our first P&F Working Bee in a long time and later this week we have our special Tuck Day and then our Cross Country Carnival on Friday.

Journeying Through Holy Week

What is Holy Week? What makes Holy Week different from other weeks of the Church's year?

Holy Week is the week leading up to Easter Sunday. It is the last week of the 40-day season of Lent. It is considered the most holy and most important of all the weeks in the Church’s liturgical calendar because it is in this week that we focus on the last week of Christ’s life, remembering especially His passion, death and resurrection which brings salvation to humanity.

Easter is a great reminder that Christ died and rose for every one of us. His death and resurrection can transform our lives as we endeavour to live lives of love – lives that have love for our neighbour, lives that respect all creation and lives that restore hope and mercy.

Yesterday our school came together for a beautiful and very reflective Holy Week Liturgy, led by the Year 3/4 students. During our liturgy, we recalled the upcoming key events from Palm Sunday to Holy Thursday and Good Friday. We prayed together and contemplated how we might live out our Christian vocation. Next term we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday.

For those who will travel this break, I wish you a safe journey. I wish all of you Easter Blessings and look forward to seeing you again for Term Two. A reminder that Monday 25th April is ANZAC Day and Tuesday 26th April will be a pupil-free day, so students will return on Wednesday 27th April.

God Bless
